Follklorico is coming to Sundance!!

We are excited to annouce that Miss Marisol will now be teaching Folklorico classes at both studios. She has numerous years of experieince dancing and teaching Folklorico. The schedule is as follows:

24th St = Thurs 4:30-5:15
75th Ave=Tues 4:35-5:25

A minimum of 5 dancers is required to open the class. Please email to reserve your spot.

Nursing Home Performance

Today some of the Competition Team girls performed at the Maryvale Nursing Home in Phoenix. The residents were very happy to get some visitors and even danced along with the girls. :)

Costumes – Costumes are scheduled to be at the studio the week of Dec 5th for pick up. If you do not attend class your costume will remain at the studio and can be picked up the following week for pictures.

Picture Weeks – Please see the picture schedule that was emailed and posted on the website for the exact date of your class pictures. If you dancer is not in the recital you do not need to attend class during picture week. Please feel free to do a make up class during the following week.

Picture Hair/Make Up – For the recital pictures you we do not have a required hair style. Please feel free to do your dancers hair as you wish. Make up can also be used at the parents digression.

Recital Picture CDs – A CD of both the individual and group pictures will be available for purchase.

Backstage Helpers Needed – We need 2 parents from each class to be backstage helpers during the rehearsal and recital. Please sign up and receive 10% off your July costumes.

Holiday Pictures – Melissa will be taking family/individual holiday pictures during picture week. Please email her at to schedule an appt.

Holiday Break – Both the 24th St and 75th Ave studios will be closed Sat Dec 24 through Mon Jan 2.

Parent Reminder – Please make sure you are coming into the studio to pick up your child. We do not want kids running into the parking lot.

Trophies and Medals

We are now taking orders for trophies and medals for the Winter 2012 Recital. Trophies are $15 and medals are $7. Please email with the dancers first and last name along with which item you want to order. The fees will be deducted on Dec 1st with the monthly tuition.

Costumes – The costumes have been ordered and will be arriving in mid-December. Once we have the costumes in we will be scheduling the times for picture week. 

Thanksgiving Break – We will be closed Thursday Nov 24 through Saturday Nov 26.

Winter 2012 Recital – Mark your calendars! The winter recital is scheduled for January 14 2012. That is 75 days away!! The dancers are learning the routines; please make sure they are attending weekly practices.

Thurs Hip Hop Time Change

The class time for the Thurs hip hop class at the 75th Ave and Lower Buckeye location has changed. Starting Thurs Oct 20th class will start at 7:05pm. For the following classes Stacy J will be teaching choreography so classes will run from 7:05-8:35pm: Oct 20th, Oct 27th and Nov 10th.
Once the choreography is taught Marisol will be teaching the class and it will run from 7:05-7:55pm.

On Sat Oct 8th Melissa competed in the 1st Annual AZ Dancing with the Local Stars to benefit Mary's Mission. The Competition Team performed during the intermission. It was a great experience for all!

2012 Recitals: Mark your calendars! The Winter Recital is January 14th and the Summer Recital is July 14th.
Costume Offer: We are excited to offer a discount on the July costumes if they are purchased in October with the January costumes. Please check your email for more information about this offer.
Costume Charges: Costumes fees will be deducted on October 1st with the monthly tuition. Please contact Melissa in writing ( if you do not wish to participate in the recitals prior to October 1st. There are no refunds once the funds have been deducted.
Costume Measurements: We have been taking measurements throught the month. If you have any questions about what size your dancer is please ask Melissa in the front. If you wish you order a different size than what your dancer measured, please let us know prior to Oct 1st.
Competition Teams: We have all the dates for the 2012 competitions. Reminder, Oct 1st monthly tuition, recital costumes AND competition payments will be deducted. Please contacted Melissa T if you need to make arrangements.
Handbooks: Please let us know if you did not receive a Handbook. It contains all the information you need to know about our policies and procedures.
Tuition: All tuition is due on the 1st of the month unless previous arrangements have been made. If tution is not received a $25 late fee will be accessed to your account.

August Newsletter

Welcome back! – Welcome back to another dance year! August is a very special month for Sundance Studios, both studios opened in August. Happy 3 yr Anniversary to the 24th St location and Happy 1 yr Anniversary to the 75th Ave location!

Picture CDs– Picture CDs are still available for purchase! The cost is 1 student/costume $40, Multiple costumes $45 and multiple students $55.

Recital DVDs– I know everyone is very anxious to get the free DVD of the recital, I know I am! The DVD typically take 4 weeks to get from the videographer. As soon as we get them in we will notify everyone they are available for pick up.

Open registration– Open registration is now in full swing. Current clients are $12 and new clients are $20.

Sundance Studios Handbook - We will be giving all our Sundance families a Handbook which has all of our policies. The receipt of handbook needs to be signed and returned no later than August 31st.

Parents- We are implementing a new policy. We will have a once month "viewing week". At all other times the curtains over the windows will be closed (24th St) and all parents will need to stay in the lobby behind the door (75th ave). The dancers have been getting very distracted as they can see out the windows. Thank you for your understanding and support.

ALL COMBO LEVEL 1 students arrive in their first costume at 9:00 a.m at the SOUTH ENTRANCE doors of the Tempe Performing Arts Center in your first costume. (Please refer to the order of routines below). ALL LEVEL 2 AND 3 students please arrive at 10:00 am in your first costume. Stage parents will be waiting for your child. You will sign in your child with security and can wait in the audience. ONLY STAGE VOLUNTEERS WILL BE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE!

DON’T forget DANCE SHOES! All dancers must wear flesh colored dance tights. If your child is in more than one dance, all other costumes must be labeled with the student’s name and dance on it. It is highly recommended to have a garment/dance bag with all of your child’s costumes in your child’s hands. Please put all accessories to costumes (bows, shoe ties, etc.) in a plastic baggie with your costume bag. Please put your child’s name on his/her shoes! Dancers will be released to parents at the end of the rehearsal at the South ramp of the main lobby.

Please be on time. Tardiness will cause a delay and will lengthen the rehearsal time. Thank you.

Sundance Information for Pics & Recital

We have a very busy couple of months ahead so we wanted to break down a few things for you.
COSTUMES: Costumes have begun to come in, yay! We are in the process of checking them all in and will begin distributing them the week of June 20th (Marco's Hip Hop Pictures will be the first week of July. Your child will be given a picture notice reminder the week before pictures. A full description of picture schedules will be posted on line Please check the site if you have any questions. Once you get your costume please take it out of the bag and try it on.
PICTURES: Pictures will begin the week of June 27th through July 3rd. Please keep your eyes open for the schedule of when your class will get their pictures taken.
DANCE REPORT CARDS: Starting June 15th we will be doing "dance report cards" for each dancer. The form will go over technical skills mastered and classes recommended for the 2011-2012 dance year.
2011-2012 DANCE YEAR: We are excited to have the new schedule completed! We have been able to add classes at each studio to make sure everyone can get into the class they want. The schedule will be released July 1st.
2011-2012 REGISTRATION: Registration for the 2011-2012 dance year will begin on July 1st. Fees are as follows: pre-registration July 1-15=$5; open-studio registration July 15-31=$10; all-open registration Aug 1st=$12 (existing) $15 (new). We are capping each class at 12 so sign up early to ensure you get the class you want! We currently have many classes that are at 12 with new clients wanting to sign up...
RECITAL: The recital is set for July 23rd. Dress rehersal will be @ 9:00 am and the recital will be at 6 pm @ the TempePerforming Arts Center. More information to come...
STAGE VOLUNTEERS: We need your help! Please sign up to be a backstage volunteer during the rehearsal and recital. If you have a dancer that may require extra assistance you will need to help backstage. You will be receiveing a DVD of the recital and there will be a tv backstage playing the recital in real-time. The more helpers the merrier! We are super appreciative of the volunteers and this year we have a great Thank You gift! Please look for the sign up sheet in the studio lobby!
SUMMER BREAK/DANCE CAMP: There will not be any regularly scheduled dance classes the week of July 25th. We will be offering a dance camp during this week! Please contact Melissa at for more information and to sign up.

June Newsletter

Summer Recital JULY 23rd!!! The date is quickly approaching. There are only 7 more weeks, which means 7 more practices. Please make sure your dancer is at all practices. The dancers have been working so hard.

Costumes – The costumes are scheduled to arrive the end of June/beginning of July. Once we have the costumes we will be sending out the schedule for pictures. Please note, due to some sizing/inventory issues some of the costumes have been changed.

2011-2012 Schedule – We are finalizing the new schedule, which will go into effect in August during our registration period. We are very excited to be able to offer some additional classes! Stay tuned for more info…

Competition Team – Our 2010-2011 competition season if officially over but that doesn’t mean rest for these girls. We have performances throughout the summer at such events as the Philippine Independence Celebration and a Women’s Shelter fund raiser.

Performance Team- We are excited to have our performance team up and practicing! There is still time to enroll if you are interested. These girls will be performing at such events as listed above. This is an excellent way to get ready for our competition team!

Summer Break: The summer break for the studio is July 25-30. NOTE: We are offering a dance camp during this week. There are a few spaces left. Contact Melissa if you are interested,

Summer Dance Program: Register Now!! See for info! We are filling up quick!

Parents- We appreciate your efforts to pick up your dancers on time, we have had children left unattended; we would like to have enough staff to cover the classes scheduled (Please do not leave your children in the lobby unattended at any time). Thanks for your cooperation!


-Students should arrive to class 5 minutes prior to the start time in order to have shoes on and ready for class to begin. For Combo classes shoes must be kept in the studio as the shoe change can be quick with as little distraction as possible.

-Parents are not allowed in the studio during class. This is a distraction for all students. To ensure the best dance education, please remain in the lobby area.

-TUITION REMINDER – ALL tuition, regardless of payment type, is due on the 1st of the month. All payments received after the 1st will be charged a $25 late fee. Any non sufficient funds will add a $25 charge to your balance. Balances left unpaid will result in student withdrawal until account has been paid in full (in order for payments to be funded by the first of each month, transactions are subject to be pending 48 hours in advance).

-LATE FEE POLICY – Please make note of the class time and make sure you are at the studio to pick up your dancer 5 mins prior to that time. In order to make class times at both studios to is imperative all parents pick up dancers on time. Beginning September 1st we are implementing the late fee policy. Late fees are $5 for the first 5 minutes, and $1 for each minute thereafter. Fees will be accumulated and charged with tuition the following month.

-MAKE-UP POLICY: If you plan to miss a class or you have an unexpected illness, you have 30 calendar days to make up your class. You must email your preference of make-up classes to Melissa ( in order to plan the date of your make-up. Make-up classes are a great way to try new genres of dance. So if your child wants to try something new, it is encouraged! Missed classes do not constitute a refund and cannot be added to result in a free or reduced tuition for future use.
